I don’t quite know how else to describe this, but every time I think about launching the Dwelling Richly Bible study, I hear that voice in my head.
You know the one.
A man in a tuxedo steps into the ring. It’s Michael Buffer, the legendary announcer with a voice that’s basically pure adrenaline. He pulls down the iconic chrome mic, his words building, getting ready to cut through and over the noise.
There’s a low hum rolling through the crowd, a mix of voices, movement, anticipation.
And then he draws the mic even closer.
The moment stretches.
The crowd is in a frenzy. They know what’s about to happen…
You can smell the energy…warm lights, packed seats, electricity in the air. The floor vibrates beneath your feet and thousands of people rise at once, waiting for the words they already know are coming.
You don’t just hear it—you feel it.
In your chest the collective cheers of the crowd vibrate…
…and when Buffer finally speaks it’s deliberate and carried by stacks of massive speakers hanging over the crowd…
Let’s…Get…Ready to…RUMBLE!!!!!
The crowd couldn’t get any louder and yet it does! That cry, the pulsing beat of the power anthem, “Get Ready to Rumble” pounds, and the stadium is exploding with the enthusiasm!
Except in my head, instead of “Let’s get ready to rumble,”
it’s calling out:
“LET’S. GET. rehhhhhh-deeeeeee TO DWELLllllllll.” (echo…echo…echo….)
Ha! Ha! Ha! I’m laughing at myself even as I’m writing this! Man, do I feel it. I’m so ready!
I’m Michael Buffer gripping that classic chrome microphone and I’m loudly announcing to a cheering crowd who are so so so ready – Let’s get ready! Let’s get rehhhhhh-deeeeeee to Dwell-lllll! To dig in together. To love His Word together. To learn something new, hear from the Lord again, share what we’re excited about, ask, answer, listen, hear…all the things that make getting together in community in and through the living Word of our awesome God truly electrifying!
And then it shifts for me.
Because as much as I’m laughing and grinning and feeling that buzz of anticipation, what’s underneath it is something deeper. Stronger. Less playful and more unavoidable. I think of the prophet Book of Jeremiah, standing in the middle of his calling, weary and misunderstood, trying-really trying-to hold it all in. And then he says it out loud:
“If I say, ‘I will not mention Him or speak anymore in His name,’ there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.” (Jeremiah 20:9)
That’s it. That’s the feeling.
It’s the sense that God’s Word has taken up residence somewhere deep, so deep that it presses outward. It hums, burns really. It refuses to stay quiet. It insists on being spoken, shared, opened, lived with others.
That’s how this season feels to me. I’m not hyped for hype’s sake. I’m compelled. God’s Word has worked its way into my bones, and the only faithful response is to open it, teach it, dwell in it, and invite others to do the same. I can’t shake it. I don’t want to.
So yes—there’s joy here. And laughter. And that giddy “we’re about to begin” let’s RUMBLE energy.
And there’s also fire.
The kind that makes you show up again – even when you’ve been hurt and are still doubting
The kind that gathers people and keeps inviting others: Come sit with me. Open your Bible. Stay awhile.
Dwelling Richly is about opening God’s Word and staying with it. About giving Scripture room to settle in and shape us over time. About showing up with open hearts, curious minds, and a willingness to grow.
This study is an invitation to slow your pace, open your Bible, and make space for God’s Word to take root in real life. I feel hopeful heading into this season. Energized. Expectant. Ready to gather women around the Word and watch what God does as we dwell together.
If you’ve been longing, this may be your moment too.
So grab your Bible. Clear a little space.
Bring your questions and your willingness to stay. We might get loud. We’ll definitely get excited. We’re gonna grow!
