from November, 2025
After 15 wonderful years serving at La Mirada Church, I’ll be retiring from my discipleship role as Women’s and Children’s Pastor this November. These years have been filled with laughter, growth, worship, teaching, and the deep joy of watching God at work in our church family. I’m deeply grateful for every moment and every person God allowed me to walk alongside.
As I began my comments on Sunday, I asked one of my favorite questions—the one my Bible study ladies know so well:
“What’s the first thing God gave His people when He delivered them from slavery in Egypt?”
A calendar.
Because God is the Author of time and seasons, and He’s the One who writes every chapter of our lives. This retirement marks the close of one beautiful season and the beginning of another. As Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “There is a time for every purpose under heaven.”
So… what’s next, Jennifer?
This isn’t an ending, but another step in following Jesus. My calling has always been discipleship: helping others know God’s Word deeply, live it faithfully, and pass it on joyfully. That mission doesn’t retire; it simply shifts form. I’ll continue teaching and writing through the Dwelling Richly Bible studies and podcast, encouraging others to let the Word of Christ dwell richly in their hearts and homes.
Through this transition, my heart rests in one simple truth: Eyes on Him. We may not yet see everything in this world fully under His rule, but we do see Jesus (Hebrews 2:8–9). That verse has anchored me especially now, as the next season holds more questions than answers.
If you’ve ever found yourself in a time of transition when the road ahead looks fuzzy and the only clear thing is the Lord Himself…take heart. God doesn’t waste seasons of waiting. He uses them to deepen our trust, refine our faith, and remind us that the mission continues even when the map changes.
Retiring from this role doesn’t retire the calling. It simply opens a new chapter to serve and shepherd in fresh ways. The main focus remains the main focus: to point hearts toward the Word, to build up the Body, and to make disciples who keep their eyes fixed on Jesus.
God’s faithfulness in the past gives me full confidence for the future—both for me and for La Mirada Church.
For those standing on the edge of your own “next,” remember: if you can’t yet see where the path leads, lift your eyes to the One who does. He’s never late, never lost, and never done writing your story.
