About Dwelling Richly Ministries

About · 8 minute read

  • What is Dwelling Richly?
  • What do we believe?
  • How do we teach?
  • Who is leading it, and why?

Our priority is helping believers let the Word of Christ dwell richly—shaping faith, everyday life, and thoughtful discipleship in ways that are biblically grounded, theologically faithful, and deeply practical. We read the call to “let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly” and we said, “Yes!” Instead of passively receiving God’s Word on a Sunday morning or even in a Bible study or a devotional, we want to “dwell” not “do” Bible study. We know the Greatest Command to “love God with heart, soul, mind, and strength” and we realized that letting the Word dwell in us richly was an incredibly way to live that out.

So, we’re excited to share how that has looked in our lives and how it can be in yours as well.
We’re glad you’re here, and we invite you to take a few moments to learn who we are and how this ministry works.

Dwelling Richly is not just a title, it’s a theological conviction, a discipleship philosophy, and an invitation. Our name comes directly from Scripture:

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…” Colossians 3:16–17

Those words capture both our heart and our hope: that God’s Word would not simply be encountered occasionally, but would take up residence in the lives of God’s people, shaping how we love, think, speak, worship, and live. When you look closely, each word in our name reflects something essential about who we are and how we pursue life in the Word together.
“Dwelling + Richly + Community + Bible + Study” – each word says something about who we are…

Let the Word Make Its Home

To dwell is to remain, to settle in, to stay. It’s not a brief visit, it’s moving in and letting it move in us. We believe God’s Word is meant to be more than a reference point or a fleeting encouragement. It is meant to live with us, to shape our inner life, guide our decisions, and anchor us through every season. Dwelling Richly encourages a slower, more attentive posture toward Scripture. We make space to listen carefully, wrestle honestly, and return often to the same truths until they take root.

With the Whole Heart, Mind, Soul, and Strength

God calls His people to love Him fully:

“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” Deuteronomy 6:5
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30

To dwell richly in the Word means engaging Scripture heart, soul, mind, and strength enthusiastically and intentionally. Our studies invite participation from:

  • Careful, linear thinkers
  • Visual and creative learners
  • Reflective listeners
  • Hands-on, active processors

We offer multiple pathways for engaging Scripture enjoying the growth that comes from depth, variety, and thoughtful response.

Formed Together, Not Alone

We believe Scripture does some of its deepest work in community, as it is read together, discussed together, prayed together, and lived out together. Dwelling Richly is shaped for homes, small groups, and churches, bringing people into shared rhythms of learning and growth. Our community is united by a shared commitment to God’s Word and a willingness to grow side by side, learning from one another, sharpening one another, exhorting and encouraging one another in faithfulness to the final authority of God and His Word.

God’s Living and Active Word

At the center of everything we do is a deep confidence in Scripture itself.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16
“For the word of God is living and active… discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

We believe the Bible is inspired, trustworthy, and sufficient, fully capable of teaching, correcting, shaping, and strengthening God’s people. We approach Scripture with reverence and confidence, trusting that God speaks clearly through His Word and meets us there.

Thoughtful, Faithful Engagement That Leads to Living

Bible study at Dwelling Richly is about learning to listen well, observing carefully, understanding rightly, and responding faithfully. We take whole books of the Bible moving thoughtfully verse-by-verse. Our goal is not simply to know more, but to live differently, allowing God’s Word to shape our habits, relationships, worship, and witness. Faithful study looks like this:

  • Whole-book, verse-by-verse, inductive approach
  • Attention to literary structure, historical setting, and biblical theology
  • Asking good questions before rushing to answers
  • Letting Scripture interpret Scripture
  • Allowing God’s Word to challenge assumptions, not just affirm preferences

We are a non-denominational, Christian ministry. We hold to traditional, evangelical, orthodox essentials of the Christian faith.

We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.

  • About God – There is one God, eternally existent in three persons-Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • About Jesus – Jesus Christ was fully God, yet fully man, born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life, performing many miracles. We acknowledge His substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, ascension and individual mediation for us, and eagerly await His personal return in power and glory.
  • About the Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit regenerates and indwells the believer  convicting of sin and enables us to live a holy life and to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • About Mankind – God created Adam and Eve, male and female, in His image to live holy and separated to Him. However, they sinned and humans are by nature and choice separated from God and a reunion, called salvation, is possible only by faith in Jesus Christ, apart from works, through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.
  • About the Bible –  The Bible, as originally given by God, is divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy, and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.
  • All true believers are united by the Holy Spirit as the church, the Body of Christ.
  • About the Resurrection Everyone will be resurrected-the saved to everlasting life, the unsaved to everlasting torment.

We are women who enthusiastically and intentionally dwell in the Word and let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly. We love God and love others and that means we are excited to help others grow in their faith, understanding, and living out of God’s Word and will for our lives. All Dwelling Richly team leaders are teachers, speakers, and gifted disciple makers who love to share their joy in the Lord. Here’s a little bit more about each of us:

Women of multiple generations sitting together indoors with open Bibles, smiling and sharing Scripture in a spirit of community and faith.

I’m a Bible teacher and writer with a deep love for helping people know God by knowing His Word. I grew up as a PK (pastor’s kid). My dad was a pastor and teacher who loved Scripture deeply, and my mom was an MK (missionary kid) who later became a teacher herself. From an early age, I learned that God’s Word wasn’t just something you studied, it was something you lived and returned to again and again.

I spent over two decades at La Mirada Christian Church (on staff since 2010), where I had the joy of teaching, leading worship, writing Bible studies, and walking alongside people in discipleship. Those years shaped me deeply, and I remain incredibly grateful for that season and community.

Today, I serve full-time through Dwelling Richly, the community Bible study I write and teach. This ministry grew out of a simple, life-shaping conviction: God’s Word is meant to dwell in us, not just be studied, but lived. My heart is to equip believers to be rooted in Scripture, confident in their faith, and responsive to the Spirit through prayer and thoughtful study of the Bible.

Along the way, I’ve written and illustrated Bible study resources and recorded two albums of original, Scripture-based worship music. But more than anything, I love gathering people around the Word, opening our Bibles together, asking good questions, and learning how to live what we’re studying right where God has us.

My husband, Glen, and I have been married since 1988, and we’re proud parents of our grown son, Jonathan. We’re enjoying this new empty-nest season and all the ways God continues to do fresh, faithful work both in us and through Dwelling Richly.

My Testimony

I’m a mom, grandma, friend and have a passion to help others walk into the calling, hope found in God. To experience transformation, peace and joy found in God’s word. As a child I was often abused, bounced around and turned to God at an early age.  I grew up around ministry and amazing people in God’s family that helped grow my faith and encourage me. I learned God was my lifeline, my faith grew and became strong.  I prayed for others whenever I could and learned Bible verses. My faith in God, his words in my heart went with me wherever I went and no one could take it away.

From childhood I always had a heart to care for others and started caring for children.  In a particular children’s home, I would pray for the other children before they went to court.  I went on to work at and direct a daycare, children’s ministry director, nanny and in my mid 20’s I became a foster parent for over 20 years.  I became a parent partner and worked with the parents on the other side of the children.  I began to have a passion to mentor the foster kid’s parents when I could. From that leading group in Bible study, helping with grief share, and single parent groups.

In 2016, the first Dwelling Richly study was written.  “Hope” and we studied the book of Luke.  I had no idea how much that study would truly be a hope I needed in God’s word. One of my daughters died at 26 towards the beginning of that study.  What could have destroyed me did not because the hope I found in God’s word and the community around me.  I continued to Dwell in God’s word and grow in my faith.  Every Bible study meets me where I am in life and is a constant reminder of my creator, who holds the plan.  Bible study is a journey that has power to transform and know God more.

I adopted 6 daughters as a single mom and have five grandchildren. I am raising my 17-year-old grandson.  I enjoy adventures, events, and connecting with others.  I am amazed at where God has led me and the way he blesses.  I look forward to serving wherever God leads and look forward to the future of Dwelling Richly Ministry.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Truthfully, there are so many wonderful ministries and Bible study approaches…what a time we live in! You could do well in any number of great studies available. Dwelling Richly is different. A distinctive about Dwelling Richly is that the Bible studies are written with many learning styles in mind. We all learn differently, some are more linear thinkers, some more circular, some like to express themselves artistically, others prefer straightforward responding. Dwelling Richly believes that we are to love God with heart, soul, mind, and strength – so that should be the way we learn and grow. Not just with an asked an answered or fill-in-the blank sort of approach – but dwelling heart, soul, mind, and strength – which means getting all of who you are involved. We take a multi-sensory approach to getting into and out of God’s Word. It’s different and yet familiar.
We love to say that we “have fun and learn a ton!“
