Maybe this Is the Year

Thoughts · 3 minute read

If you’re like me you want to read the Bible. You want to be consistent. You know it’s a good thing to do and you want to…but, ugh. Not, “ugh” in any way about the Bible…”ugh” because I just am not great about being consistent. I make the new year’s resolutions…and then…ugh.

My goal has been to read the Bible every year. I have had good years when I get through mid-March before trailing off…and abysmal years when I don’t even make it out of January.

Here’s what I realized – I set myself up too big. Too much. Too lofty. And then my perfectionist side kicks in if I miss a day r and I can’t get caught up.

So, I’m doing it differently this year and I feel really good about this…instead of reading the entire Bible this year – my goal is to read a chapter a week. Yep. Just one chapter.

And because I know me and me does better with accountability – I decided to start a group and invite anyone else to join me. Let’s just know the Word. Let’s just read and really know 52 chapters…I can do that. That feels doable and actually I think I’ll get more out of it by parking it in a portion at a time.

This post is to invite you to join me but it’s also a way of just putting it out there so the idea doesn’t swirl around in my head and never get traction. Wanna join me? Wanna join us? Because by the time I got around to writing up this little post I had started a Facebook group and we already have over 50 people in it rarin’ to go! Wow!

Join the Facebook group (Click here for Facebook), follow me on Instagram, and get on the email list too (scroll down for the email list.)

I created a simple approach that will give those who want some structure a daily plan. But seriously, don’t over complicate it (like we all can do sometimes! – *stares at herself in the mirror!) 😉

When you register your email I’ll send you a free booklet I created to give you printable pages with the chapters each week and a journal page to keep notes or jot a prayer. By the end of 2021 you’ll have 52 pages with a chapter from the Bible that you’ve taken the time to read and like Paul encouraged us to do, “let the Word of Christ dwell” in us richly!

Here’s the Know the Word page on my blog where I’ll update the chapters each week.

Let’s get dwelling! I’m ready! Register below…

One more thing… the best way I’ve discovered in the past to get into the Word consistently has been to listen to it. I have gone through the Bible every year Genesis-Revelation since 2009 with Brian Hardin and his Daily Audio Bible podcast. It’s a great way to move through the Word and get exposed to it…it’s not the kind of dwelling I need on its own, but it’s a really great daily thing to do while I’m getting ready in the morning or driving to work. I highly recommend it! Here’s the link to his website. Daily Audio Bible
