Episode 5 of Thessalonians: Holy & Hopeful
What does Christian hope look like when grief is real and the future feels uncertain?
In Episode 5 of Holy & Hopeful, we move through 1 Thessalonians 4:13–5:22 and see how the resurrection of Jesus and the promise of His return shape the way believers grieve, wait, worship, encourage one another, and live faithfully now.
Scripture gives grieving believers truth for their grief: Jesus died and rose again, the dead in Christ will rise, and we will always be with the Lord. From there, the passage turns to the Day of the Lord and reminds us that readiness for Christ is not about mastering every detail of prophecy, but about knowing who we are in Him: children of light.
We also revisit God’s will for our sanctification and see how holiness reaches into ordinary life as we rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in all circumstances. And as the chapter closes, we are called to test what we hear, hold fast what is good, and live as people whose hope is grounded in Christ Himself.
Through it all, resurrection hope keeps reaching into the present. Because Christ lives, we can grieve with hope, remain steadfast in faithfulness, encourage one another, and live holy and hopeful while we wait for His return.
